Derick had been sitting at his desk happily scribbling in his notebook for several hours when his thoughts were suddenly wrenched back to reality by the sound of his phone informing him with a loud beep that he had received a text message. Derick didn’t often get text messages and looking up from his work he noticed that the number had been withheld. The thing really caught his attention was the first line of the message which read “If you ever want to see your wife alive again bring the money to the North Pier at midnight.” “This”, thought Derick, “is most peculiar” because of course, Derick didn’t have a wife…
